Role Summary

Intern - R&D, Biomarker and Metabolism Analytics. This position provides an introduction to pharmaceutical and bioanalytical sciences, offering hands-on assay support for ongoing research projects and participation in the development and qualification of serum/plasma and/or tissue biomarker assays. The intern will support general laboratory activities as directed by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Gain in-depth insight into the Biomarker and Metabolism Analytics/DMPK department during the 12-week program.
  • Work with a mentor and experienced colleagues on tasks within diverse projects.
  • Contribute to the development of concepts and initiatives within Biomarker and Metabolism Analytics in the Research & Development unit.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments according to established protocols under supervision.
  • Accurately record experimental data and results in the laboratory notebook.
  • Communicate experimental results clearly to the supervisor/manager.
  • Analyze data using instrument software and spreadsheets, perform basic statistical analyses, graph data, and prepare slides for scientific presentations.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the lab area and follow site safety practices.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • May attend short training courses.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a B.A. or B.S. program in biochemistry, biology or a relevant biological science, and have completed at least one year of college-level coursework.
  • Completion of some college-level laboratory coursework preferred.

Skills

  • Laboratory techniques and data recording
  • Basic statistical analysis and data presentation
  • Proficiency with instrument software and spreadsheets
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Education

  • Undergraduate program in biochemistry, biology, or related biological science (pursuing).

Additional Requirements

  • Location: West Chester, PA
  • Length: minimum 12 weeks; schedule requires 40 hours per week
  • Physical demands include extensive bench work, standing, repetitive hand motions, and occasional lifting; PPE required in the laboratory
