Role Summary

Instrumentation and Controls Engineer β€šΓ„Γ¬ Automation. Responsible for providing automation platform support and oversight for the LP1 facility in Lebanon, IN, managing system integrators, and supporting life cycle management, engineering information management, and cybersecurity for the new GMP manufacturing startup.

Responsibilities

  • Safety β€šΓ„Γ¬ work safely, improve personnel and equipment safety, ensure safe design and operation of new equipment, and reflect safety in automation design for operations and maintenance.
  • Automation/Control Discipline
    • Support and enhance automated systems and equipment.
    • Perform solution assessment and performance reviews to verify proper and efficient operation of automated systems.
    • Support discipline through solution assessment, replication, and development.
    • Manage tools, implement engineering standards, master specifications, and best practices.
    • Provide technical coaching and consultation to other engineers and facilitate shared learning forums.
    • Support projects and integration of new equipment/technologies into the manufacturing workflow.
  • Technology and Innovation β€šΓ„Γ¬ stay current on external trends and evaluate technology for application within Lilly.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 yearsβ€šΓ„Γ΄ experience in Industrial Equipment Control, API Manufacturing Process control, Utilities Automation or Environmental Control Systems.

Skills

  • Troubleshooting instrumentation and control integrations
  • Strong problem-solving in measurements, control (process/manufacturing), control systems, integration, and data
  • Ability to work safely
  • Experience with two or more automation platforms (preferably Delta-V and Rockwell Automation)
  • Knowledge of field instrumentation (temperature, humidity, dissolved oxygen, pH, RH, pressure, flow, etc.), actuation instrumentation (valves, relays), and transducing instrumentation (I/P, P/I, V/P, P/V)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Knowledge of GMPs and pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field
