Role Summary

Instrument Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of instrumentation and controls systems used in production manufacturing areas. Supports design, programming and specification of equipment and implementation of project related instrumentation and controls hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Apply engineering experience to ensure instrumentation and controls systems are properly specified, installed, programmed and calibrated to perform design function, including periodic assessment of field device calibration frequencies and addressing out of tolerance conditions.
  • Troubleshoot analog/digital hardware problems on process control systems and instrumentation, including DCS, PLCs, and single loop controllers, plus peripherals such as data loggers, scanners, recorders, and field I/O devices.
  • Assist support instrumentation technicians in role as facility instrumentation/controls technical authority, including analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, MS, UV-Vis, and other analytical laboratory instrumentation.
  • Assist engineering in development of functional specifications for controls programming on major equipment systems and act as SME on calibration procedures, including training and qualifying calibration technicians; effectively communicate, document, and schedule all work activities.
  • Maintain instrumentation and controls equipment in a validated environment including all GxP areas; ensure proper calibration designation and timely repair of red-tagged/status-coded instrumentation; communicate status of job activities to management and production support personnel.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Group Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree in electronics technology or equivalent strongly desired. Minimum of two yearsβ€šΓ„Γ΄ experience as a Senior Instrument Technician or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage activities to meet restrictive timelines; strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of validated systems, applicable engineering standards, and ability to work with facility-specific software applications.
  • Ability to work within and promote a team environment.
