The Position
Part-time position for selected students enrolled in Durham Technical Community College (DTCC), or a comparable post-secondary educational program(s), directly related to industrial maintenance. Industrial Maintenance Apprentices will learn, under direct supervision, to operate, maintain, and improve industrial production systems/equipment reliability; reduce system/equipment downtime; and support operation of assigned processes.
Relationships
- Report to Senior Project Manager, OFP.
Essential Functions
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements.
- Learn to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Under direct supervision, help develop maintenance procedures, maintenance plans, and spare parts lists.
- Observe and learn corrective and preventative maintenance.
- Interpret mechanical/electrical specifications, drawings, and technical data sheets.
- Learn how maintenance activities are documented in SAP.
- Learn how maintenance improves process equipment performance and reliability.
- Use Systematic Problem Solving (SPS) tools to perform root cause analysis and resolve equipment issues; troubleshoot with engineers and manufacturing personnel.
- Suggest practical equipment and work-practice improvements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (required).
- Current enrollment in an appropriate post-secondary program directly related to industrial maintenance (required).
- Maintain active enrollment in good standing as a condition of participation (required).
- Basic computer literacy; ability to use MS Office (Word/Excel) (required).
- Systematic approach to problem solving/troubleshooting (required).
- Planning/organizing work and managing execution/checking results/revising work plans (plus).
- Mechanical aptitude; skill with small hand/power tools and applicable equipment/materials (preferred).
