The Cardiovascular and Renal Research (CVR) therapeutic area is seeking a skilled, motivated in vitro biologist to join a multidisciplinary drug discovery team in Indianapolis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and independently implement in vitro/cell-based experiments for preclinical characterization of cardiovascular and renal targets/pathways (pharmacological agents, DNA/RNA tool molecules, and/or CRISPR).
- Develop, optimize, and validate disease-relevant cellular assay systems for target engagement, pathway modulation, and compound efficacy.
- Perform molecular/biochemical assessments (RNA/DNA isolation; gene/protein expression via qPCR, ddPCR, western blot, ELISA, MSD).
- Use and validate assay detection technologies (fluorescence, luminescence, FRET, AlphaScreen, radiometric); introduce new technologies.
- Apply cell culture, transfection, FACS/flow cytometry, and cell-based functional assays (e.g., inflammation/metabolic readouts).
- Collaborate cross-functionally (in vivo pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, translational sciences).
- Maintain lab records; analyze data; present written/oral results; comply with lab policies/training.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree + at least 1 year experience in cell biology/biochemistry/pharmacology/physiology (or related).
- Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis (no visa sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masterβs degree; independent assay development/optimization; proficiency with qPCR/western blot/ELISA-MS D/RNA-DNA isolation.
- Background in cardiometabolic disease; SPR; SEC for lipoprotein profiles; automation/AI; computational/bioinformatics; hands-on in vivo pharmacology; cross-functional matrix experience; strong communication; highly organized.
Additional Information:
- Onsite, full-time in Indianapolis, IN; occasional evenings/weekends.
