In Vitro Biologist — Cardiovascular & Renal Research

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and independently implement in vitro and cell-based experiments supporting preclinical characterization of cardiovascular and renal targets/pathways using pharmacological agents, DNA/RNA tool molecules, and/or CRISPR.
- Develop, optimize, and validate disease-relevant cellular assay systems to assess target engagement, pathway modulation, and compound efficacy.
- Perform molecular/biochemical assessments (RNA/DNA isolation; gene/protein expression: qPCR, ddPCR, western blot, ELISA, MSD).
- Use and validate multiple detection technologies (fluorescence, luminescence, FRET, AlphaScreen, radiometric); introduce new relevant technologies.
- Apply cell biology capabilities (cell culture, transfection, FACS/flow cytometry, cell-based functional assays such as inflammation/metabolic readouts).
- Collaborate with in vivo pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, and translational sciences.
- Establish new techniques/capabilities and pivot quickly based on emerging data.
- Maintain lab records, analyze data independently, and communicate results in written/oral formats (comply with Lilly Research Policies and required training).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of experience in cell biology/biochemistry/pharmacology/physiology or related field.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; no visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- Demonstrated independent development/optimization/validation of disease-relevant cellular/biochemical assays; proficiency with qPCR, western blot, ELISA/MSD, and RNA/DNA isolation.
- Background in cardiometabolic disease; experience with SPR and/or SEC; automation/AI for preclinical discovery; computational/bioinformatics familiarity; hands-on in vivo pharmacology.
- Experience in cross-functional matrixed teams; strong communication; organized and detail-oriented.
