Role Summary

HypoPara Clinical Specialist based in Portland, ME, responsible for understanding customer needs, supporting pull-through activities tied to the customer strategy, and ensuring Ascendis Pharma is viewed as a valued partner to healthcare professionals and patients. Primary focus on supporting the launch of Yorvipath. Develop deep product and disease-state knowledge to engage in clinical dialogue with healthcare professionals and educate on approved indications and product efficacy/safety to support on-label prescribing. Use product knowledge to tailor discussions and in-person interactions to customer needs in a compliant, ethical manner. Drive sales performance to meet or exceed forecasts and manage territory within allocated budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales performance to meet or exceed forecasts.
  • Use assigned budgets to drive therapeutic and territory goals.
  • Maintain current understanding of the local market, practice structures, business models, and key influencers; share insights with relevant Ascendis stakeholders.
  • Engage with customers and accounts to understand practice structure, business model, key influencers, network structure, customer needs, and identify business opportunities.
  • Effectively use analytical tools to understand the business and determine how to accomplish sales objectives and allocate resources in an ethical manner.
  • Work with leaders to develop a business plan that achieves goals and delivery on sales objectives; understand formulary approvals and other opportunities and how they fit into the plan.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver appropriate resources and pull-through within the territory.
  • Demonstrate administrative excellence to manage work hours, sales call data, customer objectives responses, samples, expense reporting, and other administrative items.

Qualifications

  • Required: 5+ years of previous sales experience in a specialty sales environment.
  • Preferred: Rare disease and injectable experience; adult endocrinology disease state experience.
  • Preferred: Start-up environment experience or ability to work in ambiguous, changing environment.
  • Required: Experience working with complex distribution system and HUB services to ensure smooth customer experience.
  • Required: Proven history of strong performance.
  • Preferred: Experience in a new product launch environment.
  • Required: Demonstrated experience working with patient services in a distribution HUB and specialty pharmacies.
  • Required: Must be a self-starter with excellent decision-making, judgment, and ethics.
  • Required: Proven ability to collaborate with peers and across functions.
  • Required: Experience working in a specialty drug (rare/orphan disease) environment to ensure customers’ and patients’ needs are addressed in a compliant way.
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to develop a successful business plan based on customer and patient needs.
  • Required: Ability to analyze data/metrics to assess progress against objectives, diagnose performance issues, and identify new opportunities.
  • Required: Experience establishing new customer relationships and communicating technical information in a highly adaptable, ethical, and effective manner.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Credentialing: Ability to meet all credentialing requirements at all times; updates may be necessary depending on territory, health system/customer demand, and company policy.
  • Overnight travel required.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
