Role Summary
Based in Albany, NY, the HypoPara Clinical Specialist identifies customer needs, supports pull-through activities aligned with the customer strategy, and helps ensure Ascendis Pharma is viewed as a valued partner to healthcare professionals and their patients. The role has a primary focus on supporting the launch of Yorvipath. The specialist develops product and disease-state knowledge to engage in clinical dialogue with healthcare professionals and to educate on approved indications and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients. They use product knowledge to conduct customized, compliant, and ethical discussions and in-person interactions based on customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Understand customer needs and support pull-through activities relative to the customer strategy, ensuring Ascendis Pharma is viewed as a valued partner to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Develop product and disease-state knowledge to engage in clinical dialogue with healthcare professionals; educate on approved indications and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing.
- Engage in customized discussions and in-person interactions based on customer needs in a compliant and ethical manner.
- Drive sales performance to meet or exceed forecasts; effectively use assigned budgets to drive therapeutic and territory objectives.
- Maintain understanding of the local market, practice structures, business models, and key influencers; share insights with relevant stakeholders.
- Work with customers and accounts to understand practice structure, business model, network structure, customer needs, and identify opportunities.
- Use analytical tools to understand and evaluate the business to achieve sales objectives and apply resources ethically.
- Develop and implement a business plan with leaders to achieve goals and understand formulary approvals and related opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver appropriate resources and pull-through within the territory.
- Demonstrate administrative excellence in time management, sales call data, customer objectives responses, samples, and expense reporting.
- Overnight travel as required.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree
- Preferred: Advanced degree
- Required: 5+ years of previous sales experience in a specialty sales environment
- Preferred: Rare disease and injectable experience; adult endocrinology disease state experience
- Required: Ability to work in ambiguous, changing environment
- Preferred: Start-up experience
- Required: Experience working with complex distribution system and HUB services to ensure smooth customer experience
- Required: Proven history of strong performance
- Preferred: Demonstrated current strong performance
- Preferred: Experience in a new product launch environment
- Required: Demonstrated experience working with patient services in a distribution HUB and specialty pharmacies
- Required: Self-starter with excellent decision-making, judgment, and ethics
- Required: Proven ability to collaborate with peers and across functions
- Required: Experience working in a specialty drug (rare/orphan disease) environment to address customers’ and patients’ needs in a compliant way
- Required: Demonstrated ability to develop a successful business plan based on customer and patient needs
- Required: Ability to analyze data/metrics to assess progress against objectives and diagnose performance issues and identify opportunities
- Required: Experience establishing new customer relationships and communicating technical information in a highly adaptable, ethical, and effective manner
- Required: Ability to meet all credentialing requirements at all times; updates may be necessary depending on territory and policy
- Required: Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
