Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, operate, calibrate, repair, troubleshoot refrigeration, air conditioning, and air volume equipment and associated control systems.
- Ensure compliance with operating procedures, regulations, and cGMP while maintaining highest product/service quality.
- Perform HVAC maintenance across work groupings as needed; may support significant maintenance business systems (e.g., CMMS data, planning, procurement, scheduling) and help assign/coordinate work.
- Install/repair/overhaul/operate AC & refrigeration components (compressors, pumps, evaporators, expansion/solenoid valves, controls, condensers).
- Troubleshoot HVAC/BAS systems; respond to alarms; maintain logs and daily labor records.
- Monitor/measure HVAC filter pressure drop; replace as needed; clean coils/coils/evaporators/condeners.
- Maintain lyophilization/manufacturing/research environment systems using BAS; follow change control.
- Operate refrigerant recovery/recycling/reclaiming equipment; obtain required certifications.
- Support training, HAZOPs/Kaizen/lean six-sigma initiatives, estimates, spare parts/tool recommendations, and safety permits.
Equipment/Abilities:
- Work with tools/equipment including oxyacetylene torch, cleaning equipment, gauges, measuring devices, radios, vacuum pumps, rigging tools, and BAS leak detection/recovery/recycling systems.
- Read refrigeration/HVAC drawings and control schematics; upload/download BAS programs; mechanical aptitude.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Universal Refrigerant Certification.
- Plus one pathway: HVAC/R refrigeration trade school (6 months/650 hrs) + 3 years recent full-time experience; OR approved apprentice program; OR equivalent military training + 3 years; OR prior company HVAC/R mechanic role within last 7 years; OR shorter trade program (3 months/325 hrs) + 5 years; OR no formal education + 10 years.
- Must be able to interface with automated building/refrigeration control systems; experience servicing 20-Ton HVAC/Refrigeration and/or low-temperature systems.
Desirable Skills:
- Vendor training (HVAC/Refrigeration/DOC/DDC), centrifugal chiller/cascade/screw compressor/DOC experience; testing/adjusting/balancing proficiency; HVAC instrumentation calibration.
