Role Summary
The HSC Formulation Advisor will formulate and characterize nanoparticle platforms for nucleic acid delivery and evaluate their in vitro performance. They will act as a subject matter expert in the HSC targeting space, collaborating cross-functionally to advance targeted nanoparticle platforms, including receptor biology and ligand design. This role includes mentoring and training two junior scientists and may require travel up to 10-15%. The position is based at 15 Necco St, Boston, MA 02210.
Responsibilities
- Formulation and characterization of nanoparticle platforms for nucleic acid delivery (e.g., electrophoresis, DLS, HPLC, etc.)
- In vitro evaluation of nucleic acid formulations, including expertise on cellular receptors and targeting (e.g., mammalian cell culture, transfection, receptor density and internalization)
- Act as a SME in the HSC targeting space, cross-functionally and openly communicate with necessary teams
- Development of actively targeted nanoparticle platforms, including target receptor identification/selection, receptor biology, target engagement and receptor internalization kinetics; ligand selection/curation; particle decoration and related characterization techniques
- Perform R&D on novel assays to bring in new technologies to the broader team
Qualifications
- Required: PhD with 0-3+ years of related experience
- Required: BS/MS with 5+ years of related experience
- Preferred: Strong background in HSC biology and formulation, including flow cytometry, qPCR, ddPCR and related technologies
- Preferred: Experience with automation and NGS library prep is a plus
- Preferred: Experience with handling NGS data is a plus
