The HPC Platform Engineer will enable analytical, statistical, and scientific computing capabilities within Lilly’s high performance computing infrastructure, helping accelerate the next era of HPC innovation.
Responsibilities
- You will lead the engineering and operations of design, build, and maintain scalable HPC platforms.
- You will play a crucial role in enabling Lilly’s HPC infrastructure and experiences.
- Collaborate with researchers and scientists to optimize performance and streamline workflows.
- Leverage tooling and automation for orchestration, resource scheduling, data access, and reproducibility.
- Evolve and operate public cloud and on-premises environments with a focus on availability and performance for HPC workloads.
- Define and monitor infrastructure metrics, resource utilization, among others.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
- Required: 5+ years’ experience as an HPC Platform Engineer.
- Required: Demonstrated experience leading a global large-scale infrastructure project.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience in HPC platforms, including accelerators (e.g., GPU), HPC schedulers (e.g., Altair Grid Engine, Slurm), Kubernetes platforms, and containers technologies (Docker, Apptainer).
- Preferred: Demonstrated experience with HPC workloads, infrastructure, and cluster architectures.
- Preferred: Expertise with the Linux command line, Linux troubleshooting, and HPC administration.
- Preferred: Experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub, Chef, Ansible, Terraform.
- Preferred: Experience with automating infrastructure and applications.
- Preferred: Strong programming and scripting skills in languages such as Python or Bash.

Additional Requirements
- Hybrid role located in Indianapolis, IN (relocation required)
