Role: Lead the architecture and evolution of AbbVie's scientific HPC computing environments, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid platforms. Objectives: ensure secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective HPC infrastructure supporting R&D research activities. Responsibilities: design and manage HPC compute, networking, and storage solutions; optimize workload management with Slurm; establish reproducible scientific software environments using containers and dependencies; implement security, identity management, and automation; develop monitoring, incident response, and lifecycle management processes; collaborate with R&D teams on research workload solutions; guide technical standards and vendor engagements. Requirements: Bachelor’s in CS, IT, or related field with 7+ years (or equivalent advanced degrees with less experience); extensive hands-on expertise in Linux, HPC architectures, GPU compute (NVIDIA), MPI, Slurm, InfiniBand networking, storage systems (Lustre, NFS), and containerization (Apptainer/Singularity, Docker); experience with cloud/hybrid HPC design, DevOps, scripting, security, and enterprise IT operations. Preferred: Pharmaceutical industry experience. High-Value: Focus on scientific, R&D HPC environments supporting life sciences research, with emphasis on secure, high-performance computing, containers, and cloud integration, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
