Position Summary:
The Histology Technologist III assists pathology professionals with Immunohistochemistry (IHC), specimen processing, embedding, slide preparation, microtomy, and other high-complexity laboratory procedures including IHC staining, QC, and grossing. Performs high- and some non-high-complexity IHC Lab Ops tasks under direct supervision using standard procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform basic histology (embedding, microtomy) and high-complexity IHC testing (Ventana and Dako IHC staining, IHC QC).
- Conduct embedding/cutting; perform QC, grossing; load/unload slides on Ventana, Dako Auto-stainer, and Dako Omnis.
- Identify histology lab problems independently and collaborate with IHC Leadership to resolve; may help train new employees.
- Execute laboratory protocols/SOPs; complete required training and competencies.
- Maintain specimen viability and correct patient labeling by verifying case ID numbers match blocks/slides; print labels/slides.
- Document in laboratory logs and the LIS; maintain equipment and report maintenance/repairs.
- Identify issues affecting test performance/reporting; take appropriate action.
- Support special tasks/projects (auditing, cross-departmental training, Digital Pathology Image QC, ACC Video Receipt/Trash QC, Lab Ops ACC1, PA Dissection).

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in an IHC/histology laboratory.
- Strong technical skills.
- HT/HTL (ASCP) certification.

Must Meet High Complexity Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in relevant lab/medical technology/science, OR minimum 60 semester hours (with specified chemistry/biology/MLT coursework) plus an accredited clinical lab training program (ABHES/CAAHEP), OR at least 3 months documented IHC/histology high-complexity training.

Preferred Qualifications:
- QIHC strongly advised.
