Role: Histology Technologist I supporting high-complexity laboratory procedures, including immunohistochemistry (IHC), specimen processing, embedding, sectioning, and slide staining, primarily for cancer diagnostics. Objectives: ensure accurate specimen preparation, maintain diagnostic viability, and adhere to SOPs under supervision. Responsibilities: perform routine and high-level histology tasks, operate staining systems, verify specimen labeling, document procedures, maintain equipment, and troubleshoot issues. Qualifications: minimum 1+ year experience in histology/IHC lab or related training; bachelor's degree in a biological or medical laboratory science or equivalent education with specific coursework; completion of accredited histology training or equivalent experience. Preferred: HT/HTL (ASCP) certification eligibility, QIHC. Biopharma specifics: supports cancer diagnostics and precision medicine initiatives; laboratory environment involves handling biohazards and chemicals like formaldehyde and xylene; requires adherence to safety, GxP, and quality standards. Collaboration: works under direct supervision, communicates effectively within the team, and may support other duties as assigned. Work setup: primarily on-site with periodic travel, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
