The Position
- Provide leadership and support to attain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working environment; provide direct support for PSAM operations.
Essential Functions
- Implement environmental & safety programs.
- Support EHS aspects and ensure compliance with local/county/state/federal requirements through interactions with regulatory/governmental agencies.
- Provide expertise/solutions to resolve known or potential EHS issues.
- Conduct EHS assessments/inspections and work with area managers to ensure timely remediation.
- Provide EHS training and tools to improve performance.
- Communicate EHS performance statistics routinely.
- Review recordable accidents; coach root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for assigned departments.
- Back up emergency management/fire systems.
- Drive actions to achieve EHS strategies (e.g., “Circular for Zero”).
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements; other accountabilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related field + 1+ year safety experience (preferably pharma manufacturing).
- Alternative: Associate’s + 3+ years; or High School/GED + 5+ years safety experience (preferably pharma).
- Intermediate working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Preferred: root cause analysis; independent EHS assessments/inspections; ISO 14001/18001; emergency management/planning; cGMP/pharma experience; communication/writing; fire detection/suppression/prevention; develop/manage action plans.
