The Position
- Provide leadership and support to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working environment.
- Provide direct support for PSAM operations.
Essential Functions
- Implement environmental and safety programs.
- Support EHS activities, including interactions with regulatory/governmental agencies to ensure compliance with local, county, state, and federal requirements.
- Provide expertise and solutions to address known or potential issues.
- Conduct EHS assessments/inspections and work with area managers to ensure timely remediation.
- Provide training and tools for core processes to improve performance.
- Communicate EHS performance statistics routinely.
- Review recordable accidents and coach root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions for assigned departments.
- Provide backup for emergency management/fire systems.
- Drive actions to achieve overall EHS strategies (e.g., “Circular for Zero”).
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
- Other accountabilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related field (accredited university) required, plus at least 1 year of safety environment experience (preferably pharmaceutical manufacturing).
- Alternatively: Associate’s degree with 3 years of safety environment experience (preferably pharmaceutical manufacturing).
- Alternatively: High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of safety environment experience (preferably pharmaceutical manufacturing).
- Intermediate working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations required.
- Root cause analysis skills preferred.
- Ability to complete comprehensive EHS assessments/inspections independently preferred.
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001/18001 preferred.
- Emergency Management/planning knowledge and experience a plus.
- Pharmaceutical (cGMP) experience a plus.
- Good communication and writing skills preferred.
- Working knowledge of fire detection/suppression/prevention systems a plus.
- Ability to develop and manage action plans to achieve targets required.
