The Position
Provide leadership and support to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working environment; provide direct support for PSAM operations.
Essential Functions
- Implement environmental and safety programs
- Support EHS activities and ensure compliance with local/county/state/federal requirements via interactions with regulatory agencies
- Provide expertise/solutions to resolve known or potential issues
- Conduct EHS assessments/inspections and ensure timely remediation with area managers
- Provide training/tools to improve performance; communicate EHS statistics routinely
- Review recordable accidents; coach root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
- Provide backup for emergency management/fire systems
- Drive actions to achieve EHS strategies (e.g., “Circular for Zero”)
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements; other accountabilities as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Move supplies/equipment up to 33 lbs; on feet up to a 12-hour shift; operate/inspect manufacturing equipment; may require ladder/elevated work and working around hazardous/odorous or cold environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (Environmental Health & Safety/Safety Management or related) + 1+ year safety experience (preferably pharma manufacturing), OR Associate’s + 3+ years, OR High School + 5+ years
- Intermediate knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations
- Preferred: root cause analysis; independent EHS assessments/inspections; ISO 14001/18001; emergency management/planning; pharmaceutical (cGMP); communication/writing; fire detection/suppression/prevention; action-plan management
