Main Responsibilities
- Establish and drive a unified vision for scientific communications across GBUs and regions
- Develop governance structures and processes to ensure consistency in messaging, quality, and compliance
- Partner with Global Medical, R&D, GTMC, and local country teams to align scientific narratives and communication strategies
- Champion best practices and standardization while allowing appropriate country adaptation
- Lead development of strategic scientific communication frameworks and ensure consistent messaging
- Ensure narratives are grounded in data, aligned with brand strategies, and resonate with diverse stakeholder audiences
- Drive innovation in storytelling approaches to maximize engagement and understanding
- Establish operational excellence standards across scientific communication functions
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes, timelines, and resource utilization
- Drive efficiency through technology adoption, automation, and streamlined workflows
- Define and implement KPIs to measure impact (e.g., scientific share of voice, congress activities)
- Ensure dashboards and reporting mechanisms for leadership visibility
- Evolve analytics to derive insights and inform strategic decision-making
- Oversee end-to-end publication planning and operations for timely, high-quality, compliant outputs
- Lead data transparency and sharing initiatives aligned with regulatory and industry commitments
- Ensure adherence to Good Publication Practice (GPP) and ICMJE standards
- Work with external vendors/agencies, SBO hubs, and journal editors
- Review and provide input on publication concept development and submissions
- Conduct statistical analyses for publications/presentations arising from sponsored clinical studies (Phase 2/3/4 and exploratory analyses)
- Ensure internal access to scientific publications and data
- Oversee systems/platforms for publication tracking, repository management, and information retrieval
- Drive digital innovation to enhance stakeholder access to scientific evidence; partner with IT/Digital
- Provide strategic oversight of IME programs and investments; ensure alignment with medical strategy and educational gaps; evaluate partnerships and outcomes
- Oversee scientific/medical grants and charitable donation programs, including governance, transparency, compliance, evaluation/allocation criteria, and impact monitoring
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team; foster collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
- Attract, retain, and develop talent; build succession plans; manage budget and resources

Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in scientific communications, medical affairs, or related functions, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles leading teams
- Deep expertise in publications, medical communications, and scientific content development; track record of innovative approaches
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry guidelines (GPP, ICMJE, PhRMA Code, etc.)
- Background/experience in digital communications and emerging technologies
- Therapeutic area expertise aligned with the company’s portfolio
- Experience with organizational transformation and change management
