The Head of R&D Data and Quantitative Sciences reports directly to the President of R&D and sits on the R&D Management leadership teams.
The R&D Data and Quantitative Sciences organization influences senior leadership and stakeholders to advance Takeda’s R&D pipeline. Central to Takeda’s R&D operating model are the pillars of Data & Quantitative Sciences, which are leveraged to support the imperative of becoming a data-driven and scientifically and quantitatively disciplined rigorous organization. This focus enhances the speed and success of R&D growth and strengthens competitiveness. R&D Data & Quantitative Sciences encompasses several global functions, including Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology, Statistics & Quantitative Sciences, Programming, Global Evidence Outcomes, Business Operations, and Patient Safety & Pharmacovigilance, and the AI Center.
The role is highly cross-functional with broad and complex accountabilities and responsibilities, ensuring its impact and value across various departments. It carries high visibility at the senior executive level, significantly impacting the business’s future direction. A clear vision is crucial for the vital role that data plays in enabling R&D to realize its full potential, emphasizing strategic development and innovation.
This role requires a deep understanding of Takeda’s business to balance the fast-paced world of innovation and flawless execution. Must be able to navigate the complexity of R&D and cross-collaborate with across R&D and across the enterprise. Presenting to the Board of Directors and sharing future-ready plans for R&D are key responsibilities, as is providing solutions to enhance business investments and drive growth.
This diverse team will synergize with one another allowing us to meet the evolving and dynamic needs of our global project teams. The Head of R&D Data & Quantitative Sciences will lead the overall strategy and execution of all quantitative sciences. Their remit will be to create a world-class quantitative science discipline that brings the most creative and innovative capabilities to our project teams and ultimately to patients.
The leader is responsible for enhancing the capabilities within and across each of these groups internally and through innovative and entrepreneurial partnerships and build new capabilities as necessary to meet the dynamic needs of our rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Drive the execution of the R&D portfolio, delivering expectations that enhance and complement business investments through proven methodologies that support agility and rigor in regulated environments. The Data & Quantitative Sciences groups will serve as hub and center of excellence for all quantitative and data science applications in R&D.

The Head, R&D Data and Quantitative Sciences has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specifically across the R&D continuum. They have demonstrated experience in integrating the diverse internal and external expertise needed to bring new medicines to patients to address the external regulatory, compliance, legal and reputational elements of our business. They have both business, management, and operational expertise. This role requires strong leadership skills as well as the ability to approach situations from a creative point of view.

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
