Corporate Functions
Responsibilities:
- Lead U.S. Litigation & Investigations; set strategy/priorities aligned to company objectives and risk tolerance, including AI/digital solutions to streamline operations and manage budget.
- Advise senior leadership on significant litigation/investigations, including risk assessment and mitigation.
- Oversee a diverse caseload across U.S. litigation and investigations; ensure high-quality matter management (action plans, issue/risk communication, strategy execution).
- Oversee internal investigations for potential policy/SOP/law violations; preserve privilege and align with compliance expectations (partner with Compliance/EBI and People & Culture).
- Select/retain/manage outside counsel; develop case strategy with stakeholders; monitor counsel performance.
- Lead U.S. litigation and investigations budget (forecasting, accruals, cost management; manage outside counsel spend and efficiencies).
- Identify trends/systemic risks; develop/implement mitigation strategies; support policies/procedures/training.
- Model integrity and compliance; perform other duties as requested.

Management Responsibility:
- Overall responsibility for the U.S. Litigation & Investigations team (manage attorneys/professionals, develop talent, manage performance).
- Accountable for outside counsel performance and full budgetary responsibility.

Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; admission to at least one State Bar.
- 15+ years litigation and/or government investigation experience (law firm, government, or in-house).
- Significant healthcare/pharmaceutical experience; litigation including product liability and False Claims Act (and state equivalents).
- Extensive complex litigation and government investigations experience; leadership managing teams/large portfolios; manage outside counsel and legal spend.

Skills:
- Strong leadership, judgment, ethics, communication/writing; confidentiality; ability to analyze complex situations, build strategy, and operate under pressure.
- Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams; manage multiple priorities.
- Experience developing modernization and digital/AI strategies to improve legal team efficiency/effectiveness.
