Role Summary

The Global Head of New Product Planning (NPP) and TA Strategy for Immunology, based in Cambridge, MA, will drive the therapy area strategy and lead an NPP team, guiding commercial, development, and research activities from pre-clinical through early development toward commercialization. They will partner with internal and external stakeholders, update the TA strategy annually, and collaborate with Business Development and M&A to assess external opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global Immunology NPP team
  • Support the Global Franchise Head of Immunology, as well as the respective heads of Research and Development, in developing and implementing the therapy area strategy, as well as disease area strategies, ensuring prioritization of internal and external growth opportunities.
  • Actively partner with global project teams to provide robust commercial direction on pipeline planning and product development strategy and ensure appropriate early commercial planning and execution.
  • Develop the commercial strategy for key assets, ensuring alignment with global business unit (GBU) goals and strategy.
  • Support the program teams directly and/or through the NPP team throughout the governance process providing GBU business leadership within the franchise, R&D and investment committees.
  • Direct integrated market analysis and competitive intelligence investigations to identify current and future trends within key disease settings and across the therapy area
  • Understand and communicate requirements for regulatory approval (registration), access to market (pricing & reimbursement), and market differentiation required for the successful commercialization of new products.
  • Anticipate and ensure smooth transition of all commercial deliverables and insights to the Global Brand Lead (GBL and brand team).
  • Partner with business development and related M&A teams to ensure the BD roadmap remains in-line with GBU strategy and explore and evaluate potential commercial synergies with franchise portfolio.
  • Work with R&D, global commercial and regional colleagues to define and evolve disease areas / commercial areas of interest for the Immunology therapy area
  • Build and develop a best-in-class team, and foster strong coordination across functions, and across therapy areas

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience in Immunology indications is highly preferred
  • Experience in new product planning, pre-launch / early commercialization, Business development, or in-line launch covering commercial activities
  • Selected candidate profile will encompass strong leadership, strategic thinking, planning, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage credibly with internal and external stakeholders around scientific and drug development topics; familiar with the process of drug development from discovery research to commercialization
  • Driven and result-oriented; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment with many cross-functional partners including marketing brand teams, market research, market access, medical affairs, business development, regulatory, R&D, manufacturing, finance and legal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly adjust to changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize and deliver a clear overview of the strategy, opportunity and risks for executives
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, MS or PhD in life sciences preferred
