How you will contribute:
- Own the annual budget process for the Function (develop, submit, justify with Finance).
- Lead quarterly and monthly forecasting, variance analysis, accruals, and re-forecast cycles.
- Monitor run-rate spend, perform trend analysis, and identify risks/opportunities across practice groups.
- Provide strategic financial insights to the General Counsel and GLEC Leadership for staffing, resourcing, and investment decisions.
- Manage Function spending (outside counsel/advisors, third-party providers, tech/licensing, training, travel, consulting, operational expenses).
- Build dashboards/reporting for spend visibility by practice area, matter type, geography, vendor, and cost center.
- Develop KPIs for financial efficiency, cost drivers, and productivity.
- Partner with technology/data teams to optimize financial data extraction, analytics, and reporting.
- Own global eBilling platform and related processes (rate card management, invoice rules, budget tracking, matter/case setup, portfolio management).
- Ensure compliance with billing guidelines, rate structures, AFAs, and accrual requirements.
- Review/troubleshoot invoice exceptions; ensure timely vendor resolution.
- Improve accuracy through automation, invoice validation, and ERP integrations.
- Lead outside counsel and vendor governance (panel management, selection, rate negotiations, contract renewals).
- Create/update billing guidelines, preferred provider lists, and performance scorecards.
- Monitor vendor performance (quality, cost, responsiveness, compliance).
- Drive adoption of AFAs, volume discounts, and value-based pricing.
- Partner with Procurement and Risk to ensure contractual compliance, cybersecurity controls, and onboarding.
- Establish financial controls, audit readiness, and compliance with financial policies/retention rules and JSOX/SOX (if applicable).
- Streamline invoicing, matter budgeting, and accrual processes; drive continuous improvement via automation/templates/standardization.
- Partner to integrate financial data into core systems and analytics.
- Partner with Finance for executive materials (General Counsel, GLEC Leadership, Audit/Risk Committees, Board reporting as requested).
- Translate data into actionable insights; serve as liaison between Function and Finance (FP&A), Procurement, and Accounting.
- Lead quarterly business reviews with outside counsel and strategic vendors.
- Contribute to performance dashboards (KPIs, OKRs, cycle times, financial performance, risk indicators).
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team; define operating rhythms, service levels, and training.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, customer service, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in Legal finance/operations, FP&A, or financial management with increasing responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Expert experience with data insights/analytics and data visualization.
- Expert skill in Excel and other data analyst tools.
- Expert financial acumen, financial modeling, and forecasting.
- Experience managing outside counsel and professional services spend.
- Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and senior presentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate and/or lead cross-functional initiatives with senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading teams and developing high-performing talent.
