Head, Data & AI Enablement (R&D and Global Medical Digital Data & Technology)
How you will contribute:
- Develop and deliver a multi-year AI and data enablement roadmap for R&D of the Future, aligned to business priorities and Enterprise DDT strategy.
- Lead adoption of generative AI, large language models, and advanced analytics for scientific and operational challenges.
- Serve as strategic advisor to senior R&D and Global Medical leaders; translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies.
- Provide technical leadership for design, development, and deployment of AI/ML and data platforms; ensure reliability, scalability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Build and mentor a world-class team of data scientists, AI engineers, software developers, and domain experts.
- Oversee implementation and scaling of technologies across research, clinical, and regulatory domains; drive efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
- Lead secure, scalable data platforms in partnership with Enterprise teams; enable access, integration, and utilization of data; support AI-powered analytics for exploration, hypothesis generation, and evidence-based decisions.
- Define and track KPIs to measure impact and deliver measurable business value.
- Represent Takeda externally; build partnerships and contribute thought leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 18+ years progressive leadership in digital, data, technology, or R&D roles in pharma/biotech/healthcare.
- PhD (or equivalent) in Data Science/CS/AI/Engineering/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or related; MBA preferred.
- Proven delivery of enterprise-scale AI/digital in regulated environments.
- Expertise in LLMs, generative AI, NLP, and advanced analytics applied to drug discovery and development.
- Experience building/scaling teams; leadership in matrixed, geographically distributed organizations.
- Strategic, inclusive leader with executive presence and strong stakeholder communication.
Compensation and Benefits (if applicable):
- Boston, MA. U.S. base salary range: $259,000–$407,000. Incentives and benefits may include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and sick/vacation accrual.
