Head of Clinical AI Research, AI for Clinical Development

Role: Head of Clinical AI Research within AstraZeneca's Enterprise AI Unit, leading the development of AI/ML methodologies to revolutionize clinical trial design and delivery from Phase I through III. Responsibilities: define and oversee the AI research agenda targeting trial efficiency, patient stratification, predictive modeling, and digital endpoints; lead a team of AI/ML researchers in advancing foundational models, multimodal systems, and evaluation science; establish methodological standards and translate research into regulated environments; represent AstraZeneca externally through publications and collaborations; build and mentor a high-performing research team. Requirements: PhD in machine learning, computer science, or biomedical informatics; 8+ years of AI/ML research experience, including healthcare applications; proven leadership in research direction and team management; expertise in modern AI techniques like foundation models, NLP, predictive modeling, and evaluation methods; strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
