Purpose
- Lead and drive Research projects to the clinic as Global Therapeutic Research Lead (G-TRL) within the Neuroscience Drug Discovery Unit (NS DDU) Leadership Team.
- Lead at least 1+ top priority oligonucleotide projects with substantial clinical/commercial potential and an accelerated path to clinic.
- Mentor team members to elevate enterprise thinking and drug discovery capabilities.
- Build a connected view of project strategy within Neuroscience TA and represent core expertise with internal stakeholders across Research, Clinical Development, Commercial, and governance committees.
- Create medicine vision, early asset strategy, and manage external partnerships.
- Establish fast, critical-path practices and continuously infuse new strategy-aligned Research projects to generate high-quality INDs annually.

Accountabilities
- Lead/manage one or more β€œTop 10” oligonucleotide projects across target identification to preclinical development.
- Own project strategy with internal stakeholders; advise on portfolio investment and Top 10 selection (Inflammation & Immunology).
- Evaluate/prioritize candidates; align with therapeutic area and commercial value.
- Partner with Clinical/Translational teams; provide strategic/process/operational leadership.
- Foster innovation and scientific excellence; become a world-leading expert.
- Oversee experiments and data interpretation; stay current with industry advancements.
- Build stakeholder relationships and represent Takeda externally; evaluate external opportunities.

Education & Competencies (Technical/Behavioral)
- Ph.D./M.D./D.V.M. or advanced degree in health/life sciences.
- 10–12+ years industry expertise in Immunology/Inflammation and 10–12+ years global management experience with matrix teams.
- Extensive leadership in drug discovery/development projects (preferably pharma/biotech; gastroenterology/inflammation).
- Deep drug discovery knowledge (target ID, hit-to-lead, preclinical) and track record leading multiple discovery programs (ideally 5+; played major role in 3+ INDs).
- Delivered clinical development assets across multiple modalities (e.g., small molecule, biologics, cell therapies, ADCs).
- Inclusive leadership; solutions-oriented; strong business acumen, regulatory/commercial understanding.
- Exceptional communication; strong decision-making; proven partnerships with academic/research/industry.
