Role Summary
The Global Public Affairs Head for Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) and Cross Rare Diagnostic Initiatives serves as a Public Affairs expert within the Rare Diseases franchise. The role works with Global brand teams and the Global Project Team to develop global PA strategies aligned with business objectives, collaborates with Local PA teams to ensure strategy relevance and consistent execution, and leads cross-functional efforts to advance rare diagnostic initiatives. The role also acts as deputy to the Head of Global Public Affairs Rare Diseases and supports transversal activities to maximize team impact.
Responsibilities
- Drive implementation of a robust Global Public Affairs strategy to advance the franchise in prioritized markets and prepare market environments for launches and uptake of Efdoralprin alfa.
- Conduct scientific exchanges, generate evidence, engage communities, develop advocacy, shape policy, and pursue high-impact PA initiatives to address unmet patient needs and improve access to treatment.
- Manage relationships with patient groups and stakeholders to ensure the patient voice informs business strategy.
- Incorporate external community input into development programs and life-cycle improvements.
- Cultivate strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships to deliver patient-focused solutions aligned with franchise priorities and company position.
- Analyze trends, conduct policy analyses, monitor external developments, and communicate implications to franchise leadership.
- Serve as strategic advisor to TA/franchise Heads and support external engagements to advance business objectives and Sanofi’s reputation.
- Develop and execute external engagement strategies for senior rare disease leadership to demonstrate Sanofi’s leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners within GBT and GPT to shape broader strategy for AATD/Efdoralprin alfa and build cross-functional support for execution.
- Leverage resources across US and Global Corporate Affairs to ensure alignment and one-voice messaging.
- Work with local PA teams to ensure global strategies reflect local realities and tool relevance.
- Lead in supporting selected markets on policy and advocacy plans for rare diagnostics, including newborn screening, in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Participate in internal medical task forces and collaborate with the medical rare diagnostics team on strategic planning and tool development.
- Engage in multi-stakeholder partnerships and external engagement plans to achieve rare diagnostic policy objectives.
- Act as Deputy to the Head of Global Public Affairs, Rare Diseases, contributing to cross-functional initiatives and external engagement.
- Report to the Head, Global Public Affairs, Rare Diseases.
Qualifications
About You
- Required: Experience in market shaping to support product launches and in-depth policy/advocacy responsibilities within industry public affairs.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree (e.g., political science, law, economics, medicine, pharmacy).
- Preferred: Post-graduate degree in public health or health care field, Doctorate or business degree (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD, MBA or equivalent).
- Required: at least 12 years of combined professional experience across Public Affairs; Market Access; Policy or Government Affairs with policy-shaping responsibilities, or relevant pharma experience.
- Required: Strong collaboration across Local and Global teams.
- Preferred: Experience in highly matrixed, pressured environments and in partnering with cross-functional teams (Medical, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Communications).
- Required: Ability to travel up to 30% overall.
