Role Summary

Global Medical Affairs Strategy Disease Area Head (DAH) to oversee global medical strategy for SSTR2 and/or other select programs. This role shapes and executes the global medical strategy for our assets and ensures scientific excellence. The role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including Research & Development, Commercial, Market Access and Corporate Communications, to maximize the value of the portfolio and reports to the Head of Medical Affairs. Based in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Commercial, Access, and Corporate Communications to shape pipeline and portfolio strategies, ensuring alignment of medical plans with portfolio objectives.
  • Serve as the key medical representative on brand and clinical development teams, providing scientific and medical expertise to support cross-functional deliverables such as early development strategy, trial designs, and recruitment.
  • Develop and implement global medical strategies aligned with business goals, R&D pipeline, and market needs.
  • Accountable for developing the integrated medical evidence strategy and to lead cross-functional teams to deliver upon these plans, including clinical trials, real-world evidence, and investigator-sponsored studies.
  • Oversee medical communication strategy and pull through in publications, congress planning, advisory boards, and KOL engagement.
  • Provide medical leadership across the medical matrix team for launch readiness, including medical positioning, field medical engagement, and external education.
  • Supervise Medical Leads (MPLs) to ensure local strategies are collaboratively developed with markets, reflecting country-specific needs and supporting global medical launch activities.
  • Engage with key external thought leaders, medical organizations, and patient advocacy groups to inform strategy and uphold scientific credibility.
  • Mentor and develop medical staff within a matrixed environment.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with clinical development, corporate communications, and commercial teams to provide medical leadership on organizational objectives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build credibility with senior leadership and the global scientific community
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with strategic thinking, business acumen, and willingness to roll-up your sleeves to support execution
  • Ability to leverage AI and other automation tools to impact and streamline business processes

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD (or equivalent scientific training)
  • 10+ years in medical affairs in oncology pharmaceutical/biotech
  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing a global medical strategy including medical evidence generation, scientific narrative/medical communications, and overall medical launch readiness
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the global cross functional medical matrix team to execute upon the global/US strategy and partner with regional teams for local strategy and execution
