Role Summary

Global Medical Affairs Leader, Obesity. Lead medical strategy across the product lifecycle, influence R&D investment, and drive evidence-based healthcare changes. Partner with global and affiliate teams to deliver world-class medical strategies for AstraZeneca medicines in obesity care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical leadership across the entire product lifecycle, advise on R&D investment decisions, lead pre-launch scientific efforts, and accelerate real-world evidence and healthcare changes.
  • Collaborate across the Global Medical Team, bridging Global Product Team and Regional Medical teams to align with affiliate needs and market-shaping strategies.
  • Support outstanding product launches, transform health systems, conduct practice-defining studies and real-world evidence initiatives, and accelerate clinical trial delivery.
  • Lead or support study design, execution, and delivery of pivotal evidence-generating activities for obesity medicines and diagnostics transformation.
  • Engage externally with international thought leaders, societies, and health organizations to drive a credible scientific agenda.
  • Collaborate with internal functions (Evidence Generation, Medical Information, Publications, Market Access, Commercial, and R&D) to ensure strategic alignment and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Master's degree with 3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or relevant health system setting; demonstrated strategic and medical leadership pre- and post-launch; ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Desirable: Medical doctor with obesity medicine experience; USA healthcare system experience; Doctoral-level degree (MD, PhD, PharmD); established expertise in the therapeutic area; experience leading interventional trials or real-world evidence studies; success launching products or indications; strong global network with thought leaders and societies; advanced collaboration and networking skills; experience with global evidence programs; location preference for Boston, MA, USA.
