Role Summary

Global Medical Affairs Leader, Obesity. Lead medical strategy and execution across the product lifecycle for obesity initiatives, shaping evidence generation, scientific leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive market impact and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical leadership across the entire product lifecycle; advise on R&D investments, lead pre-launch scientific efforts, and accelerate real-world evidence and healthcare changes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Commercial, Evidence Generation, Medical Information, Publications, Market Access, and R&D to ensure strategic alignment and compliant delivery of medical resources.
  • Bridge Global Product Teams and Regional Medical teams to align on global product and disease area strategies; enable affiliates to execute launches, transform health systems, and conduct practice-defining studies.
  • Drive external scientific engagement with international thought leaders, societies, and health organizations to ensure AstraZeneca’s voice and science lead the conversation.
  • Lead or contribute to study leadership and evidence-generation activities underpinning medicines and diagnostics transformation.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Master’s degree with 3–5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (Medical, Marketing, R&D, Market Access) or equivalent health system experience; demonstrated strategic and medical leadership pre- and post-launch; strong analytical and strategic thinking with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Desirable: Medical doctor with obesity medicine experience; experience with the USA health care system; doctoral-level degree (MD, PhD, PharmD); recognized expertise in the therapeutic area; experience leading interventional trials or real-world evidence studies; ability to operate in complex, matrixed organizations; track record of launching new products or indications; established relationships with global clinical thought leaders and healthcare organizations; strong collaboration and networking skills; experience in global evidence generation programs; location preference: Boston, MA.
