Role Summary

Global Head, Clinical Imaging and Analytics at Novartis. Responsible for coordinating and leading imaging strategies to support a portfolio of medicines across multiple therapeutic areas, and for partnering with cross-divisional teams to develop and implement AI/ML derived imaging biomarkers and endpoints. Builds and maintains a high-value imaging data portfolio and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to advance imaging technology and clinical radiology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fit-for-purpose clinical imaging strategies/technologies for clinical trials and ensure high-quality training at clinical sites and for data acquisition
  • Develop and lead strategies for mining internal and external medical image and device data to support biomarker discovery, development, and implementation across therapeutic areas
  • Integrate and communicate with clinicians, epidemiologists, data scientists, imaging experts, and software engineers to advance translational research, including integration with animal models and other data sets
  • Lead AI/ML approaches to develop biomarkers/endpoints from medical imaging and device data to improve quantitation, diagnostics, disease sub-classification, and predictive risk stratification
  • Lead and partner to enable impact of imaging biomarker approaches in early drug development for Proof of Concept/Mechanism with Translational Medicine
  • Collaborate with NVS data platform groups to clarify clinical needs and data landscape, enabling new analytic approaches with radiology software and de novo models
  • Support advancement of imaging data repositories and collection technologies to maximize data value for NVS systems
  • Shape policies on imaging data storage, aggregation, harmonization, retention, and application
  • Lead collaborations across internal stakeholders to leverage enterprise imaging and data science expertise, optimize portfolio value, and drive innovation
  • Team management and responsibility for a group of 10-30 associates

Qualifications

  • PhD/MD, preferably MD, board-certified radiologist with clinical research and data sciences training/certification, plus understanding of clinical epidemiology related to diagnosis, biomarker development, and treatment monitoring
  • 5 to 10 years of professional/industry experience
  • Extensive Clinical and Diagnostic Radiology experience across cardiovascular, immunology, neurology, renal, and oncology
  • Experience with multi-modality imaging platforms (MRI, CT, PET, ultrasound)
  • Global experience leading multidisciplinary matrix teams across pharma/biotech, academia, and commercial functions
  • Demonstrated technical and scientific expertise in developing innovative biomarker solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and negotiate with senior leadership; effective presenter and communicator
  • Recognized by stakeholders with deep understanding of external trends and a strong professional network
