Role Summary

Global Category Sr. Manager - Business Intelligence role at Amgen. Lead global BI procurement strategies, partner with Marketing and Global Customer Capabilities, and drive value realization across US and Global markets.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Global Category Lead for Business Intelligence, reporting to the Business Partner Lead, Business Intelligence & Market Access.
  • Spearhead initiatives to define partnership strategies, oversee business planning and governance, and unlock innovation and value realization across US & Global Marketing including Global Customer Capabilities.
  • Foster collaboration, enable enterprise-wide initiatives, and champion change to position Global Procurement as a strategic value driver within the organization.
  • Provide trusted advisory and market insights to develop actionable category strategies that support business growth and go-to-market execution.
  • Forge strategic relationships with partners across Global and US Marketing to ensure alignment between business priorities and BI category strategies.
  • Design and implement business strategies aligned with category objectives using market intelligence to deliver measurable value.
  • Partner with suppliers to co-create solutions and drive innovation that accelerates objectives and enhances category value delivery.
  • Provide deep category expertise to advance business development, operational efficiency, and high-value initiatives positioning Procurement as a catalyst for innovation and growth.
  • Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional teams to quantify value across the pipeline and influence budgeting and P&L decisions.
  • Drive adoption of procurement-led, business-aligned initiatives and ensure seamless integration across collaborators, suppliers, end users, and partners.
  • Bridge procurement performance with business objectives through initiatives championed by Category Leads to achieve measurable impact.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree and 2 years of business partnering, marketing, and/or related experience
    • Or Master’s degree and 4 years of experience
    • Or Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience
    • Or Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience
    • Or High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Expertise in Commercialization Contracting frameworks and/or advanced Sourcing Excellence practices
    • Background in BI Procurement within Biotech or Pharma with understanding of regulatory and market dynamics
    • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or significant professional experience
    • Strong analytical approach with expertise in performance measurement and value
    • Ability to lead and align global, matrixed teams across geographies
    • Experience in cross-functional initiatives, strategic trade-offs, and executive forums
    • Strong change management skills to champion complex procurement transformations
    • Ability to distill business objectives into actionable category strategies
    • Understanding of embedding supplier-enabled innovation into commercial strategies
    • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
