Role Summary

Global Category Associate Director - Construction

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Global Category Lead for Construction procurement, reporting to the Business Partner Lead, Capital Construction and Equipment.
  • Lead category strategy for Construction, defining partnership strategies, overseeing business planning and governance, and unlocking innovation and value realization across US and Global construction and facility footprints.
  • Foster collaboration, enable enterprise-wide initiatives, and position Global Procurement as a strategic value driver within the organization.
  • Trusted Advisor & Market Expert: deliver insights into market dynamics, supplier capabilities, and best practices; translate insights into actionable category strategies.
  • Strategic Partnership & Stakeholder Alignment: build strategic relationships across Global Engineering to align priorities with Construction Services strategies.
  • Category Strategy Development: design and implement category strategies aligned with business objectives; collaborate with Business Partner Leads, Strategic Sourcing, and Procurement CoE.
  • Supplier-Enabled Innovation: partner with suppliers to co-create solutions and drive innovation that enhances speed, quality, safety and cost.
  • Procurement Expertise & Business Enablement: provide deep Construction Procurement expertise to advance growth, efficiency, and contractual rigor.
  • Value Generation & Financial Stewardship: work with Finance to capture and recognize value; influence budgeting and project control decisions.
  • Strategic Initiative Promotion: drive adoption of procurement-led, business-aligned initiatives across stakeholders.
  • Performance & Business Alignment: connect procurement initiatives to enterprise goals and measure impact.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree with 3 years of Capital Construction procurement, business partnering, and/or related experience
    • Or Master’s degree with 5 years of Capital Construction procurement, business partnering, and/or related experience
    • Or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of Capital Construction procurement, business partnering, and/or related experience
    • Or Associate’s degree with 12 years of Capital Construction procurement, business partnering, and/or related experience
    • Or High school diploma / GED with 14 years of Capital Construction procurement, business partnering, and/or related experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience leading Construction Procurement end-to-end from strategy to value delivery; deep capital construction industry understanding
    • Background in Construction Procurement within Biotech or Pharma with regulatory/compliance knowledge
    • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or significant capital construction experience
    • Expertise in Capital Construction Contracting and Sourcing Excellence
    • Strong analytical approach with performance measurement and financial reporting
    • Ability to lead and align global, matrixed teams
    • Experience driving cross-functional initiatives and executive-level representation
    • Change management skills to implement procurement strategies and transformations
    • Ability to distill objectives into actionable category strategies and embed supplier-enabled innovation
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills; data-driven decision-making
