Goals/Overview:
Global Biomarker Lead (GBL), Inflammation (ED&B GI2 TAU) providing scientific and strategic leadership for translational biomarker strategies across preclinical and clinical-stage GI/inflammation programs. Leads the Translational Sub-Team (TST) and partners to identify, validate, and implement patient-relevant biomarkers; develops translational biomarker plans aligned to asset strategy and ensures timely, high-quality biomarker data.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute translational research to identify/validate targeted pathways (human data) and define candidate biomarkers for MoA and drug response.
- Lead biomarker strategy development/execution for the clinical-stage portfolio, including biomarker-driven clinical study design and novel technologies; incorporate biomarker endpoints for early-stage decisions.
- Provide matrix leadership across functional areas to reach consensus on fit-for-purpose biomarker strategy.
- Represent Translational/Biomarker Research on project and global product teams; provide pharmacodynamic, disease, and predictive biomarker strategy across clinical phases.
- Serve as SME for program progression and translational medicine goals.
- Implement fit-for-purpose validation for clinical biomarker assays; ensure quality of pharmacodynamic/prognostic/predictive biomarker data and apply state-of-the-art tools/technologies.
- Maintain knowledge of academic/competitor/CRO translational biomarker efforts.
- Prepare/review biomarker sections for nomination documents, clinical protocols, and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain scientific dialogue with KOLs and clinical translational experts.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a scientific discipline with 7+ years relevant experience.
- Deep expertise in translational biomarkers and multi-omics in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.
- Proven biomarker discovery/development and translational medicine experience (publications/regulatory submissions/presentations).
- Excellent understanding of drug development, regulatory, and clinical development.
- Leadership in matrix environments; ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical, communication (oral/written), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
