Role: Genomics Co-op/Intern supporting long-read sequencing workflows for haplotype discovery in plant germplasm. Objectives include developing analytical pipelines, characterizing genetic variation beyond SNPs, and integrating findings into breeding strategies. Responsibilities: assist with PacBio HiFi sequencing analysis, variant calling (SVs, CNVs), and bioinformatics pipeline development; work across computational biology, genomics, and plant breeding disciplines. Requirements: pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, or related fields; experience with long-read sequencing (PacBio, ONT), variant calling, command-line bioinformatics, and Python/R; knowledge of population genetics, haplotypes, and diversity. Preferred: strong analytical skills, scientific curiosity, ability to work independently, and collaborative mindset. HighValue: plant genomics, structural variants and CNVs, haplotype analysis, plant breeding applications, supporting crop science development. Work setup: internship in Chesterfield, Missouri, supporting Bayer's Crop Science division.
