The Process Chemistry team conducts chemical process research and development, inventing and executing chemical processes and preparing active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to enable toxicology studies, clinical trials, and drug product development. AbbVie Process Chemistry is seeking a Senior Scientist to support projects from pre-clinical stages through early clinical phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute chemical processes to support clinical development of potential therapies (small molecules, antibody drug conjugates, peptides, and/or oligonucleotides).
- Demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity to resolve key project hurdles.
- Learn fast, grasp the βessence,β and change course quickly where indicated.
- Build strong relationships with peers and cross-functionally with partners.
- Perform laboratory research or method development autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Maintain high laboratory productivity.

Qualifications:
- BS (10+ years), MS (8+ years), or PhD (0+ years) in Organic Chemistry.
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of the discipline.
- Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, compound purification, and spectral analysis/interpretation; experience with peptides, bioconjugations, biocatalysis, AI/ML, or oligonucleotides desired.
- Ability to search chemical literature and evaluate solutions to synthetic problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
