Forward Deployed Lab Engineer

Role: On-site Lab IT Support Engineer responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing laboratory systems within AstraZeneca's Digital Lab Solutions team. Objectives include enhancing scientific workflows, automating laboratory processes, and improving data integration by connecting instruments, edge technologies, and enterprise platforms like ELN and LIMS. Responsibilities encompass delivering automation solutions, supporting system integrations, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating across scientific, IT, facilities, and vendor teams throughout the solution lifecycle. Key tasks involve leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, maintaining system support and documentation, and contributing to digital strategy in laboratory environments. Qualifications include a minimum of a high school diploma or technical degree, with 4+ years of laboratory engineering, automation, or scientific technology experience, especially with laboratory instrument integration, automation, and data systems. Preferred skills involve pharmaceutical or regulated life sciences experience, familiarity with laboratory hardware, orchestration tools, APIs, and regulated system compliance (GxP, validation, cybersecurity). Strong stakeholder management, technical support, and documentation skills are essential.
