Role Summary

Forecast & Strategy Lead responsible for developing demand in-line forecasts for assigned therapeutic areas, and for creating financial metrics such as NPV, ROI, and IRR to support portfolio management and lifecycle initiatives. Leads cross-functional teams to develop forecast inputs, document assumptions, and communicate strategic implications to senior leadership. Designs and executes qualitative and quantitative market research to support forecast and strategy development, and drives continuous improvement of forecasting quality and processes. Travel up to 10% domestically or internationally; up to 50% remote work; based in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Execute development of demand in-line forecasts for assigned therapeutic areas in support of standard business processes (quarterly updates, annual plans, mid/long-range plans).
  • Execute development of financial metrics such as NPV, ROI, IRR and strategic narratives to support portfolio management for pipeline assets and lifecycle management for existing brands.
  • Influence and advise cross-functional teams on key questions and analytics to deepen understanding of market and brand utilization performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative market research as needed to support forecast and strategy development.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (FP&A, C&P, Managed Markets, Competitive Intelligence, Decision Science, Marketing/Sales Analytics, New Product Planning, and Brand) to develop forecast inputs, document assumptions, create analytical demand forecasts, and advise senior leadership on strategic implications.
  • Independently prepare and deliver high-impact presentations with meaningful forecast implications, actionable insights, and recommendations to senior executive leadership.
  • Articulate pros and cons of different options to facilitate strategic decision making.
  • Leverage broad market knowledge to partner with the senior team in developing organizational strategy.
  • Provide ongoing updates to organizational leadership on brand performance against forecasts and KPIs, offering insights about performance and forecast implications.
  • Leverage deep market expertise to provide recommendations on strategies/tactics to enhance brand performance.
  • Be a subject matter expert in forecasting with deep expertise in assigned markets, and working knowledge of all organizational therapeutic areas and view as subject matter expert within forecasting group.
  • Lead the team in continuous improvement of forecasting to enhance quality and accuracy; define and implement forecasting team processes to enhance consistency and efficiency.
  • Lead the forecasting and commercial assessments for business development opportunities for late-stage assets for the US BU, in designated disease states.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Statistics or related field plus 5 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience must include design, execute, analyze, and interpret research experiments in pursuit of testing specific hypotheses.
  • Develop forecasting models to predict patient and volume forecasts for different types of drug therapies.
  • Develop models to determine financial valuation metrics such as NPV, ROI, IRR.
  • Conduct primary research with healthcare stakeholders such as physicians, nurses, and payers to collect data informing forecasts and strategy.
