General Summary:
The Associate Director, FP&A is a leader in Vertex's finance business partnering organization, providing financial direction and strategic insight to key functional leaders. The role helps define and deliver against short- and long-term goals by identifying key value drivers and Business KPIs, and providing strategic decision support—supporting pricing proposals that preserve value and mitigate risks.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Provide financial direction and strategic insight to functional leaders; support ongoing pricing proposals with market access by developing key scenarios and identifying risks/uncertainties and mitigation plans.
- Support quarterly revenue forecasts in partnership with market access analytics to ensure accurate inputs, understand trends, and drive insights.
- Review weekly sales performance to understand key drivers of short-term performance; coordinate with Commercial Insights and Analytics.
- Partner with Trade and Gross-to-Net Forecasting to understand inventory dynamics and support distribution strategy proposals.
- Evolve performance tracking to improve assumptions and metrics for tracking actuals, budget, and forecasts.
- Partner with sample program coordinator and analytics teams to optimize sample program impact and ensure integrated budgeting.
- Ensure financial integrity, corporate governance, and compliance for areas of responsibility.
Knowledge And Skills:
- Pharmaceutical industry experience; business partnering with an executive team.
- Strong MS Office and financial software skills (including Hyperion).
- Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills with senior management and Finance partners.
- Ability to lead and drive change in a complex, fast-paced environment across time zones.
- Proactive participation in a cross-cultural matrix organization.
- Strong analytical/financial skills (portfolio analysis, valuation, ROI/ROIC, complex business questions).
- Ability to understand pharmaceutical industry challenges globally and make/facilitate quick decisions.
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.
- Typically 8+ years in a finance managerial role with strong technical/analytical skills and success in a team-based environment.
