Role Summary
The Finance Lead, Alliance Accounting performs financial planning, actuals reporting, and analysis for a portfolio of collaboration and purchasing arrangements managed by the Alliance Accounting group. The role assists the Senior Finance Manager with the accumulation and exchange of financial information between collaboration partners and key internal stakeholders, including Commercial, Operations, CADM, R&D, Medical Affairs, and Alliance Management. This highly visible, hybrid role is based out of Lake County, IL.
Responsibilities
- Ensure licensor payments and corresponding reporting and planning obligations for an assigned portfolio are prepared timely for internal and external review by Senior Management, engaging with leaders across AbbVie (Commercial, Pricing, Operations, Marketing, R&D, Medical Affairs, Alliance Management, Treasury, and Legal).
- Serve as a member on finance working groups supporting collaboration governance committees on finance-related topics.
- Collaborate with Legal, Alliance Management, and the Finance Working Group to resolve ad-hoc issues and clarify contract terms to ensure alignment across stakeholders.
- Support Alliance Managers with negotiating terms within the agreements and facilitating deliverables; develop procedures with third-party counterparties to ensure financial reporting and settlements align with contractual terms.
- Consult with Technical Accounting, Licensing, and Business Development on new agreements and interpret key clauses for financial implications.
- Develop models and presentations for financial analysis for contract negotiations and litigation issues.
- Coordinate with Global Commercial Finance to develop models for Plan/Update/LBE/LRP projections for the portfolio.
- Prepare licensor payments per corporate guidelines and ensure royalty and milestone obligations are recorded accurately.
- Coordinate FP&A, External Reporting, tax, audit, and legal requirements for the portfolio; compile financial data for collaboration-related footnote disclosures.
- Execute month-end close activities and prepare balance sheet reconciliations in line with the close calendar.
- Support audit requests and ad-hoc internal projects.
Qualifications
- 5 - 6 years of progressive accounting or financial experience.
- BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly encouraged.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with good interpersonal and communication skills to work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, independent and proactive thinking, and sound decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience with reviewing contracts, SOWs, and 3rd party agreements is preferred.
- Experience with large-scale ERP and planning systems such as BIP, BPC, SAP, SRM, and Workiva is preferred.
