Role Summary

Financial Analyst II supporting Gilead’s FP&A within the Corporate Affairs and Legal functions. The role assists with standard and ad hoc financial analyses and reporting, preparation of financial presentations, and compliance, contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across assigned functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Supports month end close/ reporting activities and variance analytics. Develops an in-depth understanding of key business drivers to incorporate into monthly commentaries.
  • Supports the coordination and delivery of accurate and timely monthly/quarterly business reporting packages. Presents financial results to business partners.
  • Supports the annual budgeting and forecasting planning process for the assigned functional area(s) for operating expense/headcount/capital expenditure.
  • Develops an understanding of key performance drivers and issues relating to budget and actual results, highlighting issues, risks, and business drivers to management.
  • Supports ad hoc requests and ongoing analytics to assist with tactical and strategic decision-making.
  • Supports development and implementation of key process improvement initiatives, engaging with Finance colleagues and partners to improve planning, analyses, and reporting.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned and ensures compliance with established practices, policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Required: 4+ Years with BS/BA OR 2+ Years with MS/MA
  • Preferred: Experience in a multi-national/global business environment
  • Preferred: Prior experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred: Experience with project reporting, operational accounting and reporting
  • Preferred: Knowledge of GAAP and financial standards; familiarity with regulatory requirements in biopharma
  • Preferred: Proficiency with financial software and spreadsheet/database structures
  • Preferred: Ability to perform standard FP&A activities with increasing independence
  • Preferred: Strong communication and organizational skills
