Position Summary
Entry level field technician to service protein analysis instrumentation. Support customers in the greater San Francisco Bay Area region and occasionally across North America; up to 50% travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installations, qualifications, and preventive maintenance on complex electro-mechanical scientific instruments in a laboratory environment.
- Maintain customer communication to ensure efficient service.
- Prepare samples for instrument testing; basic laboratory skills required.
- Complete service protocols meeting cGMP documentation requirements.
- Manage and schedule customer appointments; submit service reports; enter data into CRM; maintain monthly expenses and mileage logs.
- Manage personal field inventory for cost management.
- Collaborate with Sales, Field Applications, and Technical Support teams for pre- and post-sales inquiries.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in engineering or science + 1 year field service experience in life science/biotech/medical OR military electrical technical training + 1 year such experience OR 3+ years such field service experience.
Skills/Qualifications
- Strong computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook); Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Laboratory experience preferred.
- Professional demeanor/customer service; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Attention to detail, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic lab skills including BSL2 and BSL3 experience.
- Valid driverβs license; good driving record.
- Ability to lift/carry tools, parts, and instruments up to 50 lbs.
