Operations
Position Summary
- Experienced field service engineer to service protein analysis instrumentation. Maintain instruments and support customers across North America (based in Greater San Francisco Bay area).
- Target annual cash bonus eligibility based on individual and company performance (per company policy).

Key Responsibilities
- Customer and Instrument support: Provide onsite/remote troubleshooting, diagnose and independently repair complex electro-mechanical scientific instruments in laboratory environments; communicate daily with customers; prepare samples for instrument testing as needed; follow service protocols and complete GMP documentation requirements; extensive daily travel within North America.
- Schedule, Administration and Inventory management: Work independently with minimal supervision; manage/schedule customer appointments; create technical paperwork and support documents as needed; submit timely service reports; enter data accurately into CRM; maintain monthly expenses and mileage logs; manage personal inventory for repairs and field support.
- Support sales, field applications, and technical support teams: Assist with pre/post sales inquiries; support field applications and technical support teams remotely and onsite to resolve complex customer issues.
- Lift and carry tools, parts, and instruments up to 50 lbs.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science plus 3 years’ field service experience in life science/biotech/medical OR 5+ years’ field service experience (preferably with laboratory experience).
- Strong computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Salesforce).
- Travel as necessary (estimated up to 50%).

- Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, fluidic, pneumatic and/or electronic equipment.
- Basic laboratory skills, including BSL2 and BSL3 experience.
- Valid driver’s license (good driving record) and passport required.

Working Conditions
- Remote work possible from Silicon Valley or greater San Francisco.
- Some overnight travel (Pacific Northwest, Western Canada, and occasionally across North America).
- GMP and Biosafety Level 2/3 laboratory environments.
