Main Responsibilities:
- Coach, develop, and lead the MSL team aligned to: (1) Scientific Engagement (2) Insights Generation (3) Support Data Generation (4) Internal Collaboration.
- Coach, train, and manage MSL performance and development to ensure execution excellence and achievement of strategic objectives.
- Conduct field visits with individual MSLs to support territory development and address field challenges/issues (minimum 4/year).
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and Healthcare Practitioners.
- Ensure each MSL develops and executes a regional field medical plan aligned with the USMA annual Strategic Medical and Tactical Plans.
- Ensure MSLs have robust scientific knowledge and communication skills for balanced, impactful scientific exchanges with external stakeholders.
- Oversee insight generation activities and incorporate outputs into Medical strategic plans; identify local data generation initiatives aligned to Medical strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Oversee MSL support of clinical trial programs in coordination with cross-functional medical colleagues.
- Manage MSL resources and budgets.
- Set and meet individual/team performance goals using metrics, resources, and budgets; monitor KPIs and report MSL performance to senior management.
- Implement talent engagement and retention strategies using clear career pathways and development plans.
- Co-create/develop and lead strategic, field-based medical engagement plans aligned to medical priorities using available MSL tools.
- Maintain clinical/scientific expertise via self-education, including conferences/workshops and review of key publications.
- Ensure adherence to all compliance and governance processes.

Qualifications:
- Education: advanced degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP or equivalent).
- Work Experience: prior MSL management experience preferred.
- Therapeutic area expertise/experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze performance and provide coaching/support.
- Passion for developing talent.
- Effective professional communication skills with internal/external stakeholders.
- Strong scientific and business acumen.
- Ability to translate insights into strategic action plans.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and create disruptive initiatives.

- Deep knowledge of local pharmaceutical regulations and codes of practice for non-promotional activities.
- High knowledge of healthcare systems, medical landscape, regulatory/payer environment, public health, and industry trends to identify key issues and develop strategies/plans.
