Key Responsibilities
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and managing a team of field-based Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), including coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders (medical directors, brand teams, clinical development) to develop and implement the field medical strategy; translate medical objectives into actionable plans.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry guidelines for scientific exchange; support scientifically focused, fair-balanced, non-promotional interactions with HCPs.
- Maintaining deep therapeutic area, product, and competitive landscape knowledge; serve as a scientific resource.
- Providing strategic oversight of the MSL team’s engagement plans with key external experts (KMEs).
- Gathering and communicating medical community insights to internal departments to inform medical/clinical strategy and tactical planning.
- Defining and tracking MSL KPIs; take timely actions to correct off-track metrics.

Qualifications
- Advanced scientific or clinical degree required; doctoral level preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP).
- 9+ years of Medical Affairs experience (or equivalent).
- Preferred: at least 3 years in a field leadership role (or equivalent).
- Deep understanding of healthcare/pharmaceutical environment, Medical Affairs, regulations, and compliance.
- Excellent collaboration, presentation, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership, development, coaching, and management.
- Strategic thinking; ability to translate strategy into execution and measurement.
- In-depth knowledge of Rare Diseases strongly preferred.
- Performance-oriented; business acumen, customer experience, patient-centric approach.
- Ability to travel 60% (including overnight and occasional weekends).
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; authorization/ability to drive a company leased vehicle or rental.
