Role Summary

Fall 2026 Co-Op - Drug Discovery Analysis at Bristol Myers Squibb. Join the Drug Discovery Analytical team within the Leads Discovery and Optimization department to learn techniques in NMR-based metabolomics, contribute to implementing and validating novel sample preparations, and develop skills across analytical chemistry and metabolomics. The position runs Julyβ€šΓ„Γ¬December 2026 and is site-essential with on-site requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, monitor, and quantitate metabolite tagging reactions and build an NMR reference library of stable isotope-labeled metabolites.
  • Develop an automated workflow using TECAN automated liquid handler.
  • Collect data on high-field NMR spectrometers and analyze spectra using packages such as AMIX/ChenomX/ACD labs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date laboratory notebook, perform literature searches, and prepare written reports and oral presentations.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time B.S. degree program with 2+ years of completed coursework in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline; available for 6-month duration July to December 2026.
  • Demonstrated interest in analytical chemistry, NMR spectroscopy, or systems biology.
  • Lab-based experience through coursework or independent research; training in wet lab techniques such as accurate weighing, pipetting, and lab notebook recording is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willing to work independently and cooperatively within a multi-functional, team-oriented environment.
  • Site-essential lab-based role with 100% on-site attendance expected.
  • Authorized to work in the US at hire and for the duration of employment; no visa sponsorship available for this position.

Education

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field (3+ years of coursework recommended, as applicable).

Additional Requirements

  • On-site requirement for the duration of the internship/co-op program.
  • Ability to work in a regulated laboratory environment and maintain accurate records.
