Role Summary
The Factory of the Future and Lab of the Future Transformation Lead is responsible for orchestrating the integration of advanced technologies—automation, IoT, and AI—into AbbVie’s manufacturing and laboratory processes. The role involves strategic planning and project management to ensure a smooth transition to a more efficient, technologically advanced factory environment. This leader develops the vision and drives the execution of FotF and LotF transformations across AbbVie manufacturing and laboratory sites worldwide, partnering with site leaders and VPs to establish standards, governance, and scalable, sustainable digital capabilities. The role fosters cross-functional collaboration, applying Lean principles and ensuring the digital transformation supports MEC and Quality initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Development of teams in the continuous improvement of Industry 4.0 initiatives; build, deploy, and upgrade digital technologies best practices.
- Responsible for Lighthouse use case implementations and value capture.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, and sustain a FotF team.
- Networking roadmap and supporting LRP – Governance/alignment with Site Directors and VPs.
- Strong financial aptitude with proven ability to perform robust cost/benefit analyses.
- Strong strategic planning, project management, and to ensure a smooth transition to a more efficient and technologically advanced factory environment.
- Develop and implement strategies for integrating cutting-edge technologies, fostering a culture of innovation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the overall success of the factory's digital transformation journey.

- As needed, connect digital transformation activities with other work streams and make sure they adhere to the project’s overall timeframe and major milestones.
- Manage the entire work plan for the digital transition, provide weekly status reports, locate problems and control risks.
- Establish and maintain communication with key customer decision-makers; lead and coordinate pursuit
- Must be able to read and understand the most recent technical advancements (such as big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, the internet of things, and cyber security) and connect them to the organization’s actual processes, cultural models, and infrastructures.
- The position will coordinate activities to drive the implementation of Smart Factory technology use cases to deliver savings and improved performance on an annual basis. These projects are expected to drive value through increased asset utilization, improving OEE, optimizing labor, improving quality, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, finance, supply chain, or a closely related discipline is desired.
- Preferrable with a master’s degree in business administration, logistics, materials, or supply chain Management. A Six Sigma green belt or black belt, or lean leader certification (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Progressive experience leading operations strategy, roadmaps, and digital transformation of global manufacturing sites (30+ preferred)
