Role Summary
The Facilities Specialist will execute activities within the facilities department including, but not limited to, in-house repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for in-house repairs throughout facility and grounds.
- Performs work in one or more maintenance trades including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and painting.
- Performs routine equipment repair and installation of office fixtures.
- Makes periodic or special inspections of premises to determine repair work necessary.
- May work from rough sketches and drawings.
- All other facilities-related duties as assigned.
- Some weekend work required.
- Moving miscellaneous office furniture, supplies, and other office/laboratory related equipment as needed, requiring bending, lifting, and twisting.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Working knowledge of shop math.
- Required: Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Required: Ability to use simple gauges.
- Required: Attention to detail.
- Required: Must be able to climb up and down roof hatch and ladders.
- Required: Ability to work in various hot and cold temperatures (indoors and outdoors; ranging from around 70 degrees to about 85/90 degrees, with summer heat and humidity up to around 90 degrees, and winter conditions around 30 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Required: Ability to use simple workshop equipment such as a saw and a drill.
- Required: Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
- Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2+ years practical related experience.
- Preferred: 1+ years of recent experience in Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, Electrical, and/or HVAC.
Additional Requirements
- Physical requirements: Position may require prolonged sitting, standing, and climbing; the ability to push, pull, drag and/or lift up to 25 pounds of force constantly, with exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
- Visual acuity: Close visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work and to operate machines that are near the work area.
- Outdoor work: The worker will be required to work outside in all conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow.
- Authorized to legally work in the United States without Visa sponsorship.
