Facilities Maintenance Technician I

$23.61 or more based on experience The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs setting up, troubleshooting, installing, repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, and the physical structure of the building. Responsibilities: Perform maintenance and repair of building systems, including basic electrical, lighting, HVAC, boilers, plumbing, and life safety systems. Monitor and troubleshoot critical systems; complete repairs or escalate issues to the Senior Maintenance Technician or Facility Manager as appropriate. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with established safety procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality standards. Conduct regular inspections of the facility, grounds, and equipment. Complete assigned monthly preventive maintenance tasks and respond to reactive work orders. Identify and report equipment, facility, or safety issues to the Senior Maintenance Technician and Maintenance Manager. Maintain accurate documentation and records, including daily logs, timesheets, and routine and non-routine maintenance records. Assist with miscellaneous facility projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, fixture installation, and equipment relocation. Respond to after-hours emergency maintenance calls as required. Maintain inventory levels of spare parts and supplies based on projected usage. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required, with experience in facility operations and maintenance. Advanced training or certifications in electrical systems, HVAC, or steam boilers are a plus. Working knowledge of common hand and power tools, pumps, fans, blowers, and control valves. Basic understanding of HVAC systems, boilers, and other facility-related equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, both verbally and in writing. Maintain tools and supplies in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction. Additional Requirements: Availability for overtime, weekend, and on-call work as required. Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may involve lifting, prolonged standing, and working in environments with laboratory animals. Ability to read, understand, and follow information presented both verbally and in writing. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Demonstrated strong documentation and record-keeping practices. Ability to work at multiple locations as assigned. *This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the personâs relevant experience and/or education level.
