Role Summary

Facilities & Engineering Director responsible for engineering support and services across RDES footprint focusing on EHS/Life Safety, Business Continuity and Pipeline projects within RDES facilities. Accountable for delivery of capital infrastructure projects, organizational capability development, and engineering operations, compliance, and staff deployment within the region. Support Real Estate with business acquisitions due diligence.

Responsibilities

  • Implement strategy, policy, and standards to deliver key RDES contracts across the region in the areas of engineering and capital projects.
  • Organize RDES engineering staff to ensure effective deployment of initiatives and ways of working across all sites, ensuring GSK Global Engineering Standards and EHS Policies are deployed.
  • Deliver the portfolio of capital infrastructure projects on time and on budget in accordance with the site Facility Investment Plans.
  • Accountable for ensuring thorough due diligence is completed for all GSK facilities that are to be integrated into RDES.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with internal GSK policies, standards, procedures, alerts, and relevant external regulatory requirements with respect to Quality, Statutory and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Accountable for the development, direction, and management of Engineering staff in the region
  • Ensure comprehensive Energy Management, Carbon Impact and Utility Cost Reduction Plans are developed and implemented.
  • Own global engineering programs, policies, and procedures as required for the RDES organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or master's in engineering.
  • 10+ yearsβ€šΓ„Γ΄ experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry delivering engineering services in support of facilities, operations, and/or capital projects.
  • Experience managing cost, safety, quality, and compliance metrics for facility and/or engineering services.
  • Preferred: MSc (Engineering or Science), PE License, Safety Qualification and Lean/Six Sigma experience, and strong interpersonal and strategic planning skills.
  • Knowledge of Research & Development processes and GxP requirements; ability to manage high-severity risk at R&D facilities.
  • Financial literacy to manage cost centers, OPEX, CAPEX and P&L as required.

  • Strong leadership and ability to motivate and influence at senior levels.
  • Strategic thinking with experience in Facilities Master Plans.
  • Technical communication to translate complex issues for stakeholders.
  • Enterprise thinking to direct activities across sites and regions.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (required); MSc preferred.
