Executive Medical Director, US Medical Lead - Obesity & Related Conditions
What You Will Do / Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the US Medical Affairs strategy for the Obesity & Related Conditions portfolio (primary responsibility for Chronic Weight Management (CWM) and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)).
- Provide strategic medical leadership across launch readiness, evidence generation, external medical engagement, scientific communications, medical education, insight generation, and lifecycle planning.
- Contribute medical/scientific input to product and portfolio strategy, including launch readiness, lifecycle planning, evidence generation, and indication expansion.
- Lead US Medical Affairs execution (external engagement, communications, congress strategy, publications, and congress plans).
- Partner with Field Medical leadership (including National Leader) to align scientific priorities, resources, education, external expert engagement, and insight generation; ensure independence, non-promotional, and compliant activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Global Medical, Development, Regulatory, Safety, Value & Access, Legal/Compliance, Commercial, Key Account Management, Field Medical) while maintaining Medical Affairs independence and compliance.
- Engage external stakeholders (thought leaders, professional societies, payers, IDNs, ACOs) via appropriate, compliant scientific exchange.
- Generate and translate medical insights into actionable recommendations.
- Ensure activities comply with policies, US regulations, and applicable guidance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Medical Affairs team members.
What We Expect Of You
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree + 6 years medical affairs experience OR
- Masterโs degree + 10 years medical affairs experience OR
- Bachelorโs degree + 12 years medical affairs experience AND
- 6 years managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams/projects/programs/resource allocation.
Preferred Qualifications
- MD/DO/PhD/PharmD; board certification/eligibility in relevant specialties (e.g., Endocrinology, Obesity Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, Sleep Medicine, Cardiology).
- 8+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience; 5+ years Medical Affairs, ideally US strategy, launch planning, evidence generation, and external engagement.
- Deep understanding of obesity, CWM, OSA, cardiometabolic disease and comorbidities.
